One of the basic principles for managing risk for any business or commercial undertaking is to diversify , have multiple vendors and customers , so that you are not adversely affected in case any one business shuts shop.

But some times , some people prefer to be loyal to a single company for personal reasons. In case there is a change in the management, you have to start afresh with another company with whom you have no track record. Most companies give their older customers a better deal.

Many people will do any thing to earn money and fame, but if you use unethical means, the money does not last for long. You may proclaim loudly that you are the most honest and ethical company in the world and your corporate goal is don’t be evil, but actions speak louder than words. People who have been cheated or have got a raw deal started speaking out and no one trusts you any more.

Though companies may proclaim that they promote freedom of speech, some of the companies keep a very close eye on every action of yours and will do everything possible to suppress dissent. This includes indimidation techniques.

There are so many people who take decisions without thinking of the future. It is very important to evaluate both the plus and minus points very objectively, without letting your emotions affect you.

After you take a decision, you have to face the consequences which can be very nasty , mentally and physically.

Definition of freedom

Many people in certain countries feel that imitating foreign cultures is freedom . They do not realise that true freedom is ability to make your own choices, live life on your own terms. Following the latest trends adopted by film stars and celebrities (whose career often ends at 35) and being brainwashed by your peers is definitely not freedom.

Unethical practices

Many younger people think it is OK to lie and cheat, they are willing to do anything to become rich and famous. But they do not realise that doing so has the many dangers:

You will get caught at some stage – lose the goodwill and few people will trust you.
You set a bad example to your juniors/ new employees
When you tell your juniors that it is OK to lie and cheat to earn more money, your competitors can and will bribe your employees to misbehave with your customers.
Long term growth is difficult.

Stereotypes

If you are rich and successful in business , most of your female “friends” will be dumb and beautiful, nice to you because of your money ( and the things it can buy). Others will be proxies for their husband/ father / boyfriends.

But to stereotype and assume that every woman is equally stupid and dependent is a mistake.

Most people spend most of their lives try to earn a lot of money and / or become famous. But when you meet a person who does not care for money or fame, you realize how poor you are.

Not much money is needed for our basic needs, but for some people money is never enough.

When people behave in an unethical or illegal manner, you often try to understand their motivation, why they behave in the particular way.

Some of the reasons are:

Greed – they are not satisfied with what they have , want things which others want and are not willing to work hard for it
Prejudices – due to their upbringing or lack of exposure or false rumors, they believe that another person is wrong and go out of his or her way to harm the other person who may not have even interacted with them.
